This is not a registration page. cultivate17.org is an independent reference site. You cannot register or buy anything here. Registration for the current Cultivate show is handled by AmericanHort on the official event site: cultivateevent.org/registration.
In 2017 this address, cultivate17.org/Reg, was the registration link for Cultivate’17. Trade-press releases about the show, including the announcement of the CareerUP program, pointed readers to it.1 What follows describes how that registration worked, using only what was reported at the time.
The timeline
| Date (2017) | Step | Source |
|---|---|---|
| January 31 | Keynote speaker and education topics announced; registration opening date published | 2 |
| March 7, 11 a.m. | Registration opened | 2,3 |
| June 21 | Early-bird registration ended | 3,4 |
| July 15 | Education sessions and tours, including the retail tour | 5,6 |
| July 16–18 | Trade show open; event closed July 18 | 5 |
Pricing tiers, as far as reported
The trade press did not publish a full price list for Cultivate’17. The one figure repeated in several reports was that early-bird registration saved AmericanHort members 40 percent. That discount ran until the June 21 deadline.3,4 So there were at least two dimensions to pricing: when you registered (early bird or later) and whether you were an AmericanHort member. The sources consulted give no non-member rates or exact dollar amounts, and this page does not guess at them.
Lawn & Landscape’s June reminder listed what a registration gave access to: more than 100 professional development sessions coded fundamental, intermediate or progressive; the Sunday keynote by Jon Gordon; the trade show; and tours and workshops.4
For a later comparison, Nursery Management reported that Cultivate’19 had an early registration window of February 11–22. Tickets ranged from $25 to $305, and add-on experiences such as tours cost extra and had to be booked in advance.7 These figures are for 2019, not 2017.
Add-ons and combined registration
Several Cultivate’17 programs were booked as part of the same registration:
- CareerUP, the GenNext young-professional day, was registered together with Cultivate’17 registration.1 See CareerUP.
- In all there were eight add-on experiences, including three tours, a biocontrols workshop, a succession planning workshop and CareerUP.8
- The retail tour on Saturday, July 15 ran from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with lunch included. It visited Oakland Nurseries (New Albany), Wilson’s Garden Center and Fisher’s Gardens. Spots were still open shortly before the show.6
Check-in on site
For 2017, registration and check-in moved to a new North entrance of the Greater Columbus Convention Center, off Goodale and High Street. A complimentary business center offered scooter rental, copying, faxing, stamps and limited shipping.5
Registration today
The current official registration page names two pass types: the Cultivate All-Access Pass and the Cultivate Expo Plus Pass.
